
QWAQWA, FREE STATE – Strengthening the capacity of traditional institutions, the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and Human Settlements, Mr. Saki Mokoena, successfully completed the official handover of a new vehicle to Principal Traditional Leader, Morena E Moholo, Moremoholo Mopeli in QwaQwa today, Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
The handover marks the fulfillment of a departmental commitment to provide tools of trade to recognized Traditional Leaders, ensuring they have the mobility and resources required to fulfill their duties to their communities.
During the proceedings, MEC Mokoena emphasized that this vehicle is not merely transport, but an essential resource intended to uphold the dignity and operational efficiency of the Traditional Councils.
This initiative aligns with the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 and the provincial mission of creating “A Free State That Works For All.” By equipping Traditional Leadership, the Department of COGTA continues to bridge the gap between provincial governance and traditional community administration, strengthening the capacity of traditional institutions.
